The Plastechnik AG, which is based in 3178 Bösingen, Switzerland, is specialized in the production of technically sophisticated plastic parts and the design and manufacturing of injection moulds. HEITEC Heisskanaltechnik GmbH in 35099 Burgwald, Germany, is known for providing special solutions in the area of hot runner technology, particularly in lateral injection and the production of highly specialized small nozzles.
Plastechnik AG approached HEITEC with an inquiry regarding the application of an extremely small shot weight, via HEITEC’s Swiss representative Mr. Daniel Jenny of the company E. Ramseier Werkzeugnormalien AG in 8602 Wangen, Switzerland
HEITEC introduces a new version of the 12-Cav Star-Line Crown 01.072.64.12.140 based on the proven Star-Line hot runner nozzles. This multiple nozzle for side gating of plastic articles can inject up to 12 cavities using a single hot runner nozzle. This results in a significant reduction of the control requirement since you only need one control zone to control the temperature of 12 mold cavities.
The new design allows even greater output per mold area and thus ultimately much smaller tool dimensions. The smallest possible fit diameter is 64mm. Hence, up to twelve injection points can now be placed on a circle of about 76mm instead of eight as in the past.
As with the other types of the new generation Star-Line nozzles the length expansion of the nozzle does not matter anymore in terms of possible "wandering" injection points as the growth in length is completely compensated inside the nozzle by the two-piece structure of the nozzle body.
New Valve Gate System with a minimum 5.8mm Gate spacing
A new valve gate hot runner system with miniature space requirements was developed by Heitec Heißkanaltechnik GmbH from Burgwald, Germany represented in North America by Technoject Machinery Corp.
Based on the already existing Flat-Line Nozzle platform 61.041 the new nozzle design achieves a minimum nozzle spacing of less than 6 mm. With this design a complete valve gate system with e.g. 4, 8, 16 or more nozzles can be arranged in very small mold base sizes resulting in lower mold costs, higher productivity, more design flexibility and less melt residence time.
